Raise Funds for Renovation

Since 2012 we have raised funds to repair the former girls and boys orphanages at St John’s Park.

This precinct has been focused on public welfare and health policy since the 1830’s and it’s a perfect place for a health promotion focused arts organisation to create a place based resource to conduct cultural activities that promote well-being.

Behind the Cage

A journey through the derelict central part of the building that once housed staff of the orphanage.

This area is not open to the public due to safety concerns, locked behind a cage.

Stage One

Stage One of the former Boys Orphanage repair comprises a little over half of the building., opening in 2020.

Further funds are needed to complete all works before the entire site is fit for purpose.

Stage One will bring a new art room into operation.

A space for art-making workshops, a dance space for Drill Performance Youth Dance Company to operate, and for the first steps towards opening Hobart’s newest 120 seat theatre!

The Evidence

The former Orphan School and associated buildings were derelict and unused, they were in disrepair. We have been raising funds and caring for these buildings since 2012.
