Are you interested in observing and drawing nature?
You will get to spend 3 hours with botanist and artist, Dr Tanya Scharaschkin, learning basic
drawing techniques so that you can draw what you see.
We will spend time learning to observe and draw using pens and pencils. If you would like to
add colour, feel free to bring your watercolour supplies or other media.

Minimum number of people: 5
No prior drawing experience needed
Materials to bring:
Basic Drawing supplies: sketchbook or sketch pad, graphite pencils (a range e.g., 2H, HB,
2B), sharpener, eraser, clipboard, ruler.
Pens: Your choice of fineliner pen (different thicknesses). Good quality pens are ideal as they
are quick drying, waterproof and archival.
Water colour supplies (optional): watercolour brushes, paints, palette, towel/rag, water
colour paper (300 gsm) or sketchbook with reasonably thick paper
Coloured pencils or markers (optional): Your choice of material
Subject matter (optional): small objects from nature you'd like to draw (e.g., leaves, bark,
rocks, shells, flowers, feathers).
Bring a snack and a drink
Appropriate for children 10 years and older, but must be accompanied by an adult
