Autumn is here and the leaves are falling. It's a good time to weave with the sticks from garden pruning.  This ingenious basket weaving technique allows us to use sturdy materials which might otherwise be too tough to tackle.

WHAT YOU'LL GET

  • You'll make a sturdy stick basket to take home

  • Photocopied instructions to help you remember the process 

  • Learn when and how to collect ​suitable materials to continue weaving at home

WHAT TO BRING

  • All materials and equipment will be supplied

  • bring a bundle of fresh sticks or prunings from your garden if you can

  • A camera or smartphone to take photos to remind you of key steps, and of course your trusty notebook and pen

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR

 

Gwen Egg is a fibre artist who is best known for teaching basket weaving with natural materials.

 

Gwen is interested in the ecologies and cultures that inform the materials and techniques used in the weaving. She enjoys the process of making which stimulates her thinking - as do the people she meets through her involvement in community arts and teaching.
