ABOUT
The Creek Road Art Orchestra brings together 10 highly skilled musicians from diverse cultural backgrounds to share stories and create new exuberant and joyful music through an exploratory improvisational approach. The Orchestra's debut work in 2021 explores the intersections of home, belonging, social justice and civil disobedience.
The Orchestra has been meeting regularly throughout the year, and has created a collective sound unlike anything you've ever heard before! Under the leadership of musical director Stevie McEntee, the orchestra will perform in the intimate (and newly refurbished) Hidden Theatre at Kickstart Arts, accompanied by a jazz rhythm section and string quartet. Orchestrations by national award winning composer and arranger Kelly Ottaway.
People of all ages, cultural backgrounds, abilities and genders are welcome to attend. Beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) will be sold at this event.
GETTING THERE, PARKING AND ACCESSIBILITY
The Hidden Theatre is located at the back of 1831 North (to the right of St John's Anglican Church). We request that patrons park along St John's Avenue and take the short walk up the road to the venue. Disability parking is available on Church St, accessible off Creek Road. This venue is wheelchair accessible and has an accessible toilet.
For more information call Stevie on 0439 757 325.
Music Garden Studio
We are very excited to announce the launch of a community-led music rehearsal studio in 2021!
The space, located at the Kickstart Arts Creative Living Park, is currently being renovated into a state-of-the-art music rehearsal, teaching and workshop space complete with P.A., piano, amps and a drum kit. This project has been supported by the Regional Arts Network Tasmania
We are currently seeking expressions of interest from bands, musicians and teachers who would like to use the space on a regular basis, in exchange for participation in, and contribution to our ever changing music program.
Get in touch with Stephen McEntee to learn more about this exciting new opportunity.
